ADHD Assessment for Adults
Finally Get the Answers You've Been Seeking
Have you spent years wondering why focus feels impossible, why organization is a constant battle, or why you can't seem to "just do it" like everyone else? You're not alone, and you're not broken.
Have you questioned if your substance misuse may be linked with an undiagnosed neurodevelopmental disorder (i.e. ASD/ADHD)?
What to Expect
Our comprehensive ADHD assessment takes 2-3 hours over 1-2 sessions depending on complexity, giving us time to truly understand your unique experience. This isn't a rushed tick-box exercise - it's a collaborative exploration of your history, challenges, and strengths.
Common ADHD Symptoms in Adults
Do these experiences sound familiar? ADHD affects everyone differently, but here are some common signs:
Difficulty Focusing
Trouble concentrating on tasks, easily distracted by thoughts or surroundings
Forgetfulness
Missing appointments, losing items, forgetting important tasks
Restlessness
Feeling fidgety, unable to relax, always "on the go" mentally
Disorganization
Messy spaces, poor time management, trouble prioritizing
Impulsivity
Acting without thinking, interrupting others, impulsive decisions
Procrastination
Avoiding tasks that require sustained mental effort, last-minute rushes
Emotional Dysregulation
Quick mood changes, difficulty managing frustration or disappointment
Time Blindness
Underestimating how long tasks take, chronic lateness
Remember: Everyone experiences some of these occasionally. ADHD is diagnosed when these symptoms are persistent, severe, and significantly impact multiple areas of your life since childhood.
The Process
Before Sessions
You'll complete standardized questionnaires (Conners scales) and we'll gather collateral information from someone who knows you well (with your permission).
Main Session - Deep Dive & Diagnosis
(at least 120 minutes)
We'll discuss your developmental history, current challenges, and what prompted you to seek assessment. We'll listen without judgment, asking questions to understand how ADHD may have affected your life from childhood to now.
We'll review all the information together, explore differential diagnoses, and discuss whether ADHD explains your experiences. If you receive a diagnosis, we'll create a personalized plan for next steps.
What You'll Receive
✅ Comprehensive written report (12-15 pages) with:
- Full diagnostic formulation
- DSM-5 criteria analysis
- Functional impact assessment
- Personalized recommendations (medication options, therapy, workplace adjustments, lifestyle strategies)
- Resources and next steps
✅ 15-30-minute follow-up consultation if necessary (within 2 weeks) to discuss any questions about your report
✅ GP letter summarizing findings and recommendations
✅ Lifetime access to your report for future needs (job accommodations, benefits applications, etc.)

The Mind Atlantics Difference
Our Commitment to You
- ✅ Minimum 60 minutes recovery time between appointments
- ✅ We're never rushed, tired, or running behind
- ✅ Your assessment receives the time and attention it deserves
Why this matters: ADHD assessments are complex. Details matter. Nuance matters. When a clinician is exhausted from seeing 6 people in one day, quality suffers.
We would rather see fewer people and do excellent work than maximize volume at the expense of quality. This is healthcare, not an assembly line.
Culturally Sensitive Assessments
We understand that ADHD can present differently across cultures, and that many people from minority backgrounds have learned to mask their symptoms to fit in.
We provide assessments that consider:
- Cultural context of your upbringing
- Different family expectations and pressures
- Religious and cultural values around mental health
- Experience of being misunderstood or dismissed
- Code-switching and masking strategies
- Immigration, language, and cultural adjustment experiences
Support Beyond Diagnosis
💊 Medication Management Available
If you want to try ADHD medication when diagnosed with ADHD, we can prescribe and monitor (additional consultation fees apply). No need to wait months for NHS psychiatry referral.
